Ethan king, president
Ethan King serves as Executive President, Board Chair, and Internship Coordinator of Hope Dealers Outreach, a leading community-focused nonprofit organization based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Originally from Detroit, King has made a lasting impact in Winston-Salem over the past five years, investing time and leadership into the region’s growth and vitality. His community involvement includes service with organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank, HUSTLE Winston-Salem, and So-In Oil Company, as well as participating on the host committee for the Winston-Salem Portrait Project’s Southwest Ward.
As the owner of Ethan King Photography, King is deeply committed to mentoring emerging talents in visual arts and photography, cultivating creative entrepreneurship among youth and peers alike.
King is a graduate of the Creative Catalyst Program at the Kenan Institute for the Arts at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He also holds credentials from the City of Winston-Salem University, the Center for Creative Economy’s KINETIC Business Accelerator, and is a Certified ICE House Entrepreneur Facilitator.
In 2017, King joined Paint the Town Pink W-S, NC, a breast cancer awareness initiative that has raised over $21,000 to date. Seventy percent of funds directly support the Wake Forest Cancer Center, providing free mammograms, co-pays, and vital services to underserved patients, while the remaining 30% contributes to a national treatment fund assisting newly diagnosed patients across Northwest NC.

As the longest-serving President in the organization’s history, King has led Hope Dealers Outreach to directly reach over 4,00+ families across underserved and marginalized neighborhoods in Winston-Salem over a three-year period.
- Beyond his nonprofit work, King serves on the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Advisory Board, contributing to the groundbreaking “Drone in the Box” initiative—the first of its kind in the U.S.—as well as the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Community Engagement Crime Reduction Committee.
​​​In 2020, King became a Certified Entrepreneurial ICE House Facilitator, sponsored by NC IDEA. His service and leadership have been recognized at the state level, receiving the Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2022 from Governor Roy Cooper. In 2023, he was appointed to the RJ Reynolds High School Alumni Association Board of Directors, helping to raise critical funds to support educational resources for current and future students.
Currently, King serves as a full-time substitute teacher with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, continuing his passion for public education and youth development. Known for his straightforward, results-driven leadership style, King brings vision, integrity, and a fierce commitment to serving others—never hesitating to advocate for what’s right.
His passions remain rooted in nonprofit leadership, entrepreneurship, and public education, where he strives to create lasting positive impact across his community.


Brooke Whittington,
Marketing Intern
Brooke Whittington is a Marketing Intern at Hope Dealers Outreach. She is currently studying Marketing at East Carolina University and joined the team to help expand the organization’s reach and spread its message of hope and empowerment.
Brooke first connected with Hope Dealers Outreach through her participation in the Love Out Loud Student Camp, where she became inspired by the organization’s mission. As a first-time intern, Brooke is focused on growing awareness of HDO’s work and using her marketing skills to contribute to their positive impact in the Winston-Salem community.
